”Eija-Liisa Ahtila’s films and video installations play with genres such as feature and documentary films, music videos, and commercials; her work is shown both within an art context and in the theater and on television. She examines the possibilities of penetrating perception and the reproducibility of reality through narrative. While documentations and research form the basis for Ahtila’s narratives and the translation of the material follows a quasi-documentary format, the empirical data only serve as a conceptual starting point for Ahtila’s fiction.”
