For years before his death, London’s October Gallery emerged as a committed advocate for Aubrey Williams’ work. This advocacy and commitment has continued in the decades following the Guyana-born artist’s death in 1990. Typical in this regard was the exhibition Aubrey Williams: Selected Works, held at October Gallery 25 June - 1 August 1998.

The exhibition’s invitation card featured Hymn to the Sun V, 1984, oil on canvas, 119 x 178 cm. The private view took place on Wednesday 24 June 1998.
