Entry in The Guide (a listings/what’s on/television guide issued weekly by the Guardian newspaper), p.39, 10 - 16 October 2009. The entry, which featured a small reproduction of one of the exhibited pieces, was written by longtime Guardian visual arts contributor, Robert Clark (RC) and related to Barbara Walker’s exhibition, Louder Than Words, at Vane, Newcastle upon Tyne, 8 - 31 October 2009.
From the entry: “Between 2002 and 2006, aged between 17 and 21, the black artist Barbara Walker’s son Solomoin was so often “stopped and searched” by Birmingham police that it came to seem disproportionately significant and she began to record the situations in her artwork.”
