Osmond Watson

Born, 1934 in Kingston, Jamaica. Died, 2005

The following biographical entry on Osmond Watson appeared in the catalogue Ten Jamaican Sculptors, Commonwealth Institute Art Gallery London, September 4 - 28 1975: “Born Kingston, Jamaica 1943 [Note, this is likely an erroneous notation of Watson’s correct year of birth, 1934] Early training at art classes, the Junior Centre, Institute of Jamaica . Further studies at the Jamaica School of Art and St. Martin’s School of Art, London. Has received many awards for both painting and sculpture including gold medals in the Festival exhibitions in 1969 and 1972. Major commissions; “Madonna and Child” - Kingston Parish Church. His work is represented in many private and public ciollections in Europe, the United States, the Caribbean and Jamaica. Lives and works in Kingston.”
