From the letter: “Guyana - born, British-trained artist Frank Bowling was awarded an Honorary Doctor of the University last year. He was the first black artist elected to the Royal Academy in 2005. He maintains two studios, one in New York and one in London, and in Spring 2008 has no less than six exhibitions showing his work, including in London, Brighton, Bournemouth and, of course, Wolverhampton. His work is represented in over 30 public and corporate collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Royal College of Art; and the Victoria & Albert Museum.” Signed by Sue Fahy - Head of Fine Art and Photography.
