Press release for Crisis solo exhibition by Donald Rodney, held at Chisenhale Gallery, London. 18/1/89 - 18/2/89.

Extracts as follows: “At Chisenhale Gallery in January, Donald Rodney will be exhibiting recent work that literally explodes with colour and conviction, drawing together the threads of a global experience of the oppression of black people, both in Britain and abroad…The potency of the X-ray as a metaphor is extensive - referring to death, fragility, what lies beneath the surface, menace, insight etc. Rodney develops new ways of exploiting this unusual medium, and has recently started drawing in oil pastel upon their surface, as well as using layers of images and X-rays.”
