Press release for the publication, Donald Rodney: Doublethink

From the press release: “Autograph is proud to announce the publication of a major monograph - Donald Rodney: Doublethink - the first comprehensive and in-depth survey of the artist’s work. At the time of his death in 1998 at the age of 36, Rodney’s artistic career had spanned two decades and had produced some of the most engaging and innovative work by a British artist of his generation. With unique access to the artist’s private archive and including images never before published, Doublethink presents not only the wide range of art forms that he employed but also the ways in which self-portraiture and the body were often conduits for wider social and political narratives. It establishes the legacy of an artist that might otherwise remain overlooked, placing it at the heart of the artistic, social and political contexts in which it exists…”

Doublethink features newly commissioned essays by Eddie Chambers and Virginia Nimarkoh, an introduction by Richard Hylton and a preface by Professor Stuart Hall. Monograph published and produced by Autograph, The Association of Black Photographers.
