Louverture Poisson

Born, 1914 in Port-au-Prince

The following biographical sketch appeared in the catalogue Artists of the Western Hemisphere | Art of Haiti and Jamaica, Art Gallery, Center for Inter-American Relations, 600 Park Avenue, New York, N.Y., October 10 - 27, 1968

“Poisson [was] once a Sergeant in the Haitian Aviation Corps. From early childhood he loved to paint; at any excuse he would seize a piece of cardboard or any other surface that could be used and, in a style that was very personal, give expression to his imaginative reaction to things around him. When he grew up, his paintings continued to reflect this same keen imagination.”
