Private View card for an exhibition by Kimathi Donkor, Caribbean Passion Haiti 1804, 6 October - 18 November 2005, held at Art Exchange Gallery, Nottingham. The exhibition was announced as “a solo exhibition of epic oil paintings exploring the birth of a nation.”  The exhibition recalled the cataclysmic events that culminated in the liberation of Haiti at the beginning of the 19th century.

The card was full colour and featured reproductions of three paintings from the exhibition, though details of the works do not appear on the card. The image on the front featured a depiction of a skirmish between liberated slaves and those they sought to overthrow. In the centre of the painting is the sword wielding, equestrian figure of Toussaint L’Ouverture, his stallion rearing up.

The card contained information about the exhibition, access to the venue, and the Private View. “On the night there will be a re-enactment of the Haiti revolution.”
