The House on the Hill was the title of a celebrity/lifestyle/home decor feature that appeared in the Times magazine of 12/11/11. Written by Vinny Lee, with photographs by James Balston, the piece was introduced as “There’s a plate by Grayson Perry, a painting by Chris Ofili and a rug by Missoni, but lingerie designer Alexandra Miro’s hilltop Brighton home still has a period feel” The feature was liberally illustrated with photographs of the home in question, including “the shower room with a scattering of [presumably unlaundered] Fox & Rose lingerie” The feature lets it be known that Alexandra Miro is the daughter of “the renowned gallery owner Victoria Miro, acknowledged by many as the grande dame of Brit art.” Alexandra Miro is also quoted as saying “Sam Taylor-Wood and Jake Chapman used to babysit us and Claudio Silvestrin designed our Hampstead home”. The final photograph in the feature shows “The main bedroom with Chris Ofili painting above the bed head”.
The ‘painting’ in question was actually a print. Chris Ofili’s Afro Lunar Lovers (2003) edition of 350 plus 70 artist’s proofs. Giclée, embossed on paper, gold leaf hand applied by the artist. Gouache & felt tip digitally merged, 49 x 32 cm. Now sold out, the print retailed for £350.00.
