David Lee was responsible for a review of an exhibition of Jamaican Intuitives, that took place at the Commonwealth Institute in the autumn of 1986. The exhibition’s press coverage included a review in Arts Review, 26 September 1986, p.510, by David Lee. The review was not illustrated
Lee’s review concluded, “Far from being the work of naives or intuitives this is a fine exhibition of Jamaican Art. Doubtless, what the organisers of this exhibition consider as ‘real’ Jamaican Art is an unhappy union of Bob Marley, voodoo and ‘the integrity of the picture plane’.”
