Leaflet to publicise the exhibition Aubrey Williams: Atlantic Fire, at Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, 15 January - 11 April 2010. From the leaflet: “Aubrey Williams is a key artist of post war Britain. Originally from Guyana, Williams was deeply influenced by the indigenous cultures of Central and South America, the music of Russian composer Shostakovich and a concern with the environment. This exhibition aims to celebrate one of the 20th Century’s great artistic spirits and is part of Liverpool and the Black Atlantic: a series of exhibitions and events that explores connections between cultures and continents. Partners include the Tate Liverpool, Bluecoat, FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology), Metal, Walker Art Gallery, International Slavery Museum and University of Liverpool.”

Leaflet also has a reference to “Jelly Mould Pavilions by Lubaina Himid at Sudley Hoiuse, Mossley Hill, Liverpool, from 27 March to 6 June 2010. This exhibition features models designed to commemorate the contribution made by people of the black diaspora to the history, culture and fabric of Liverpool.”
