Aubrey Williams: Now and Coming Time, October Gallery 2010

Solo show at The October Gallery. 2010
Date: 4 February, 2010 until 3 April, 2010
Organiser: October Gallery

For years before his death, London’s October Gallery emerged as a committed advocate for Aubrey Williams’ work. This advocacy and commitment has continued in the decades following the Guyana-born artist’s death in 1990. Typical in this regard was the exhibition Aubrey Williams: Now and Coming Time, held at October Gallery 4 February - 3 April 2010. The exhibition was presented in conjunction with Aubrey Williams: Atlantic Fire, at Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, 15 January - 11 April 2010. To this end, there was a substantial joint catalogue, with a Preface by Chili Hawes, of October Gallery, and David Fleming of National Museums Liverpool. The exhibition included small reproductions of the fourteen paintings in the October Gallery exhibition, plus all relevant details of the works.

The exhibition’s invitation card for the Private View of Wednesday 3 February 2010, featured Dawn & Evening Star (Olmec Maya series), 1982, oil on canvas, 132 x 208 cm. The exhibition was to be opened by Mel Gooding.
