Aubrey Williams: Selected Works, October Gallery 1998

Solo show at The October Gallery. 1998
Date: 25 June, 1998 until 1 August, 1998
Organiser: October Gallery

For years before his death, London’s October Gallery emerged as a committed advocate for Aubrey Williams’ work. This advocacy and commitment has continued in the decades following the Guyana-born artist’s death in 1990. Typical in this regard was the exhibition Aubrey Williams: Selected Works, held at October Gallery 25 June - 1 August 1998.

The exhibition’s invitation card featured Hymn to the Sun V, 1984, oil on canvas, 119 x 178 cm.

It was this exhibition that was made mention of in the Whitechapel agenda brochure (relating to Williams’ exhibition at the Whitechapel in the summer of 1998 - “A selection of works on paper are also showing at the October Gallery from 25 June - 1 August [1998]”
