Aubrey Williams - October Gallery 1989

Solo show at The October Gallery. 1989
Date: 2 November, 1989 until 16 December, 1989
Curator: October Gallery
Organiser: October Gallery

The last solo exhibition of Aubrey William’ work during his lifetime. (He was to die a few months into 1990, the year following this exhibition).

This particular exhibition was timed to coincide with the major Hayward Gallery exhibition, The Other Story, which featured Williams’ workk.

A modest catalogue was produced to accompany/mark the exhibition. From the catalogue’s flyleaf: “The 8 acrylics reproduced in this catalogue were painted in London in 1989 and exhibited at the October Gallery in November/December of the same year.” However, the card for a Special Reception for the Artist (held on Thursday 30 November, 1989, 6 - 9 pm) featured a work from the previous year, Totemic Emblems IV, 1988, oil on canvas, 99 x 125 cm.

The title of the exhibition, as stated on the Special Reception card, is Aubrey Williams | Selected Oils and Recent Acrylics. The exhibition’s dates (again, as stated on the card) were 2 November - 16 December 1989.
