Jorge Pineda

Born, 1961 in Barahona, Dominican Republic

Pineda’s work, Mambru (detail), 2006, was reproduced and discussed in Art in the Caribbean: an introduction, by Anne Walmsley and Stanley Greaves, in collaboration with Christopher Cozier, New Beacon Books, 2011.

From the catalogue Who More Sci-Fi Than Us?: Contemporary Art from the Caribbean: “Pineda lives and works in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Through drawings and sculptures rich in metaphors, Pineda actively denounces violence and deconstructs cultural responses to the sensitivity of this subject. His work often reflects upon the difficult topic of child abuse and punishment.
